We celebrated my parents 60th anniversary last Saturday, and had such a good time.

Almost everyone that lives in the area was there, and the food was good and plentiful. The weather was very nice, a little on the warm side, and just enough of a breeze to keep us all from overheating. Eva made a very nice frame with all of the names of children, grandchildren, and great-crandchildren. Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad, may you have many more years together. Charles had a rocket to shoot in the air, and that was a big hit for the kids.

Peas, peas, peas

Yesterday I was asked the question, what do you miss about Illinois, and what do you like best about being here? My response was, "I miss my friends in Illinois, Kathy, Sue, Denita, JoAnn, Cindy, Michelle.... but I love being here. I like the cool nights, the quiet, the number of stars you can see in the night sky, the sunsets, and I love being closer to kids and grandkids, my sisters, and brother, and my parents."
My sister Christine has been sharing their abundant garden crops with us, and we have strawberry jam in the freezer, broccoli, cauliflower, and peas, peas, peas.
Monday night we picked two of the four rows of peas, and ended up with 15 quarts of peas to share. Do you have any idea how many peas in the pod that takes. It's a lot!!
Our flock of chickens and turkeys is growing, and our garden has produced the first zuchinni, and lettuce, spinach, chard, and beans will be ready soon. I love being here, and I'm so thankful for many blessings. Not the least of these is that we have a new contract on our house in Illinois, and it's suppose to close on August 12th. We will be so glad when that is sold, so we can plant some deeper roots here in the Gem State.

Happily Ever After

Just a couple of pictures of Carrie's wedding. I don't think that I'm allowed to say what a nice wedding it was, but it was what they wanted.

They are very happy!

Teton Dam Race 09

Kaye Lynn said that we didn't get pictures of her when she ran the 10K race in Rexburg a couple of weeks ago, but I found some on my phone/camera. She did better than she thought she would, and it was fun to watch.
This is her, in gray sweats, and white t-shirt, after the race, and with her coach friend, Pam.

Bridal Shower

We had a bridal shower for Carrie last night, and here are a few of the pictures that we got of the fun event. We are not very big on games, so we just visited, and worked on a wedding scrapbook for Nate and Carrie, and then she opened her gifts. She tried on her dress, with shoes and veil, and except for the hem, it is ready for the big day next Saturday. Of course the hit of the night was the chocolate fountain... YUM!

Trout and Chicks

Jim caught this fish in the Ashton resevoir on Memorial Day, we went up to Mom and Dad's, built the worm box that was on the list of things to do, and then went and drowned a few of the worms that Aaron and Kara's kids helped Jim pick. He also caught a smaller rainbow, but he was the only one that caught anything.

We dicided that we wanted to get some chicks and turkeys to raise, so we have increased our flocks.

We have two white turkeys, and 5 little brown ones. We also have 25 chicks coming next week.

The birds are living in the garage for now, with a heat light, and we have started mucking out the chicken coop near the house we are renting. When we get it cleaned out, we will move the turkeys, so the chickens can live in the garage for a few weeks.

No pictures of the birds, but it's pretty fun to see them get bigger every day.

It's official!!

Carrie called me on Friday May 15th to tell me that Nate has asked her to marry him, and she said yes!. They want to be married on June 27th, yes folks that's less than 6 weeks away. Lots of things to get planned, and try to put it together in short order.
She is very excited, and we are happy for them both.
We'll have to let you know about details when we get them figured out.
